Spending more time on Social Media Vs. Work?
Well, RescueTime is a productivity tool that helps answer exactly that. RescueTime will install a small client on your computer, that will log all websites, applications or any window that you visited during the day and then helps analyze the data via a very intuitive dashboard and other detailed reports.
You can start with the RescueTime Lite version, this is a free application. With the Lite version you can track time spent by websites and applications and receive weekly reports. You also have an optional premium paid version, which includes additional features like tracking time-away from the computer, blocking non-work websites, more detailed reporting etc
RescueTime has a easy-to-use web-based user interface, it provides several reports that let you visualize your productivity in many ways. The one I found most interesting, shows a typical day broken down by the hour, with a bar chart showing how productive/un-productive you’ve been during that hour. It turns out I am most productive during the first-half of the day, no surprises here as I have the habit of clearing my in-box in the morning since I work with a global team, that spans various time-zones. You also get daily and weekly reports, so you know which was your most productive day or productive week.
You need to take this with a pinch of salt. The lite version only accounts for what you did in front of your computer. If you were away helping someone, like answering a query, then it is not going to be captured here. Also what if you are a Digital Marketing guy, and always on social media 🙂
Nevertheless I think this a very interesting application, try it out and let us know what you think?
